"My Dad, AKA the best human on the planet, had what appears to be a
bad stroke this morning and we are all making our way to Idaho to be
with him in the hospital. Will try to keep you posted as u reach out.
Appreciate your thoughts and prayer."
"Life is busy and
I post so many good things, but life is hard too, and today is a hard
day. My dad had a pretty bad stroke today, and the delicacy of life is
so scary. My dad is amazing, my hero and the best Bampa anyone could
have! Please keep him in you prayers."
"My Dad suffered
a major stroke on Thursday. He is still in a critical time period as
the swelling should peak in the next 48 hours or so. We know so many of
you are sending positive vibes and praying for him and we are beyond
grateful for the outpouring of love being sent our way."
"My
sweet friends, I am in Idaho. My dearest Dad suffered a severe stroke
Thursday morning. I am so thankful to be able to be here with him. We
have shared many hand squeezes, winks, half smiles, and singing Beatles
together. This morning, his scans have showed worsening swelling on the
brain. We are meeting with the doctors in a few minutes for a family
meeting. Please, if you could please keep him in your prayers and maybe
fast tomorrow. He's the best man I know, and has been my best friend my
whole life. Thank you, and much love from the Kevin Miyasaki family."
On March 3rd, our Dad suffered a severe stroke. These past two weeks have been a whirlwind (to say the least). The first days being in critical condition in the ICU, where we met multiple times with doctors, discussing the grim details and poor statistics of saving and maintaining our Dad's life. Each day was filled with an array of emotions and news. Everyday he would show us promising developments; from recognizing faces, saying names, singing songs, thumb wars, and tender interactions, all bringing us joy and optimism, only to be met by CT scans showing increased swelling and increased hardships to my Dad's fragile health status. As our family inhabited the ICU waiting room, our days were ultimately filled with waiting, hoping, and trying to hold onto the the small fractions of hope that were presented. Days went by, and even though the scans showed worsening of swelling, Dad's clinical status seemed to improve. The doctors said many times that they were amazed by what Dad was doing given the severity of his stroke. From days 1-6 we were always on edge, as these were the days of maximal swelling. Dad fought through each day, and finally stabilized to be moved up to the floors, out of critical condition. After 5 days of maintaining stability, we prepared for the next step in Dad's journey of recovery at the IHC Neuro Specialty Rehabilitation Center in Utah. Over these past two weeks, it has been thought and expressed many times, that if there is one person who can surpass the many obstacles presented by this trial, it is our Dad. He is the most hardworking, disciplined, determined, and faithful man we know. Go Dad, go.
